Kumari Bank Joins the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF).

Kumari Bank Limited has joined the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF), reinforcing its commitment to responsible banking, climate action, and greater transparency in understanding and managing the greenhouse gas emissions associated with its financing activities.

As a PCAF signatory, Kumari Bank will work toward measuring and disclosing the greenhouse gas emissions financed through its loans and investments, using PCAF’s globally recognized standards and methodologies. The initiative marks an important step in strengthening the Bank’s climate-related data, risk management, and sustainable finance practices.

The financial sector has a critical role to play in supporting the transition to a low-carbon and climate-resilient economy. By joining PCAF, Kumari Bank aims to enhance its ability to understand the climate impact of its financed activities and use that insight to inform future financing decisions, risk management and sustainability initiatives.

PCAF is a global collaboration of financial institutions working to enable harmonized assessment and disclosure of greenhouse gas emissions financed by loans and investments. Its growing global network provides financial institutions with a common framework for measuring financed emissions and improving climate-related transparency.

For Kumari Bank, becoming a PCAF signatory represents a meaningful progression in its broader sustainability agenda and reflects its commitment to embedding environmental considerations into its business and financing practices.

“Joining the Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials is an important milestone in Kumari Bank’s sustainability journey. Understanding the emissions associated with our financing activities will enable us to strengthen our climate strategy, improve transparency and make more informed decisions as we support Nepal’s transition toward a resilient and sustainable economy,” said Mr. Arpan Paudel, Head-Sustainable Banking Department, Kumari Bank Limited.

The Bank will continue to explore opportunities to strengthen sustainable finance, integrate environmental and climate considerations into its operations and financing activities and collaborate with stakeholders to contribute to Nepal’s long-term climate and development priorities.

Kumari Bank Limited, with its extensive nationwide presence, is well positioned to leverage its established banking network to facilitate and scale sustainable finance initiatives across targeted communities in Nepal. The bank’s infrastructure comprises 279 branches, 296 ATMs, 41 extension counters, 40 branchless banking units, and 1,233 POS terminals, supported by digital banking platforms, mobile banking services, and international Visa card solutions.

Through its focus on customer-centric innovation, responsible banking and sustainable finance, Kumari Bank continues to strengthen its role in supporting Nepal’s long-term economic transformation. The bank reaffirms its commitment to sustainability across its products, people, and strategic partnerships, while leveraging its nationwide reach to promote inclusive and responsible financial solutions.

The Partnership for Carbon Accounting Financials (PCAF) was launched globally in September 2019. Currently, more than 700+ financial institutions have subscribed to the PCAF initiative. PCAF participants work together to jointly develop the Global GHG Accounting and Reporting Standard for the Financial Industry to measure and disclose the greenhouse gas emissions of their loans and investments.
