BYD’s 14 Millionth New Energy Vehicle Rolls Off the Production Line in Brazil President Lula Becomes the Proud Owner

On October 9, BYD’s 14 millionth new energy vehicle officially rolled off the production line at its passenger car plant in Camaçari, Brazil, marking a new stage in BYD’s global expansion. The ceremony was attended by Brazilian President Luiz Inácio Lula da Silva, Vice President Geraldo Alckmin, Chinese Ambassador Zhu Qingqiao, Bahia Governor Jerônimo Rodrigues, and BYD Chairman and President Mr. Wang Chuanfu, as well as government officials and representatives of BYD employees, who together witnessed this history milestone.

During the ceremony, Mr. Wang Chuanfu presented the 14 millionth new energy vehicle — a BYD Song Pro — as a gift to President Lula.

You have every opportunity to make history, to build the most sophisticated and fastest cars on Earth. This honor will belong to Bahia, to China, and to Brazil,” Brazilian President Lula said. He expressed his sincere appreciation to BYD for its confidence and commitment, and extended his best wishes to the people of Bahia and to BYD.

During the ceremony, Mr. Wang Chuanfu expressed

his gratitude to the governments of China and Brazil, as well as partners and customers for their long-term support.“BYD has been operating in Brazil for more than 11 years. Our electric buses have become a familiar sight on the streets of cities across the country, our electric buses can now be seen on streets and avenues across the country. Today, BYD has more than 170,000 car owners in Brazil and has been the sales leader in the Brazilian new energy market for two consecutive years. In Brazil, BYD is not just an investor but a long-term partner."

At the event, Mr.Wang Chuanfu announced that BYD will provide 30 customized new energy vehicles for the 30th United Nations Climate Change Conference (COP30), to be held later this year in Belém, Pará. These vehicles will serve as low-carbon shuttles during the conference and will later be donated to local schools and public institutions, continuing to serve Brazilian communities and support green mobility.

Ahead of the ceremony, the Legislative Assembly of Bahia approved the renaming of the main road in front of BYD’s Brazilian plant to “BYD Road.” This is the third road named after BYD worldwide, following those in Lancaster, USA, and Rayong, Thailand, both closely connected to BYD production bases.  The first BYD Road in South America further highlights the depth and breadth of BYD’s global brand expansion.
