As the global transition toward electric mobility accelerates, battery technology has become one of the most important factors determining an electric vehicle's safety, performance, and reliability. Unlike many automobile manufacturers that source batteries from third-party suppliers, GWM is among the few automotive companies in the world that develops its own battery technology through its sister company, SVOLT Energy Technology. This vertical integration enables GWM to maintain complete control over battery research, engineering, manufacturing, quality, and safety standards.
Powering the newly launched GWM ORA 5 EV SUV in Nepal is the latest Dragon Armor Battery, developed and manufactured by SVOLT, one of the world's
leading advanced battery manufacturers under the GWM ecosystem. Built after years of intensive research and innovation, the Dragon Armor Battery has been engineered to deliver exceptional safety against water & fire, long driving range, rapid charging capability, and reliable performance under diverse driving conditions.
The name "Dragon Armor" is inspired by the battery's unique internal structure. The battery cells are stacked like the protective scales of a dragon, creating an innovative downward venting design that acts as an armor. In the unlikely event of thermal runaway, the system is designed to direct heat and flames downward and away from the passenger cabin, providing an additional layer of protection for occupants.
