Kathmandu, Nepal - 12th August, 2026 - Nepali hip-hop has been building for years, from underground cyphers to sold-out concerts, and now it is stepping into a new arena. Malin Media is bringing the Indian franchise of MTV Hustle to Nepal, as “Hustle by NepHop,” a premium rap reality show on the native television channel. The show marks one of the first times Nepal's hip-hop scene gets a dedicated national platform built entirely around the genre, its artists, and its culture.
Hip-hop, in particular, has grown from a niche interest into one of the country's most followed genres, with young artists gaining massive followings and Nepali rap tracks racking up millions of views online. “Hustle by NepHop” arrives at a moment when the genre is no longer on the sidelines of Nepali music, it is shaping the mainstream conversation.
The show is being positioned as a full reality format, following the format's global playbook of competition, mentorship, and raw talent, but built around Nepal's own voices, references, and stories. This is also being seen as another marker of Nepal's growing presence in global music conversations. Nepali artists have increasingly found audiences beyond the country's borders, and a dedicated hip-hop platform like this signals that the industry sees real long-term value in the genre, not just a passing trend.
“Hustle by NepHop” aims to give Nepali rappers, both established names and new voices, a proper stage to showcase their craft on a national scale. The show will bring together performance, storytelling, and competition to highlight the depth of talent within Nepal's hip-hop community.
