NADA Auto Show : G1 humanoid robot and GO2 quadruped robot are major attractions

KATHMANDU, 22 August 2026 — The G1 humanoid robot and the Go2 quadruped will be among the principal attractions at the 18th NADA Auto Show, which opens at Bhrikutimandap on 25 August. They are the easy headline. The more consequential story is standing behind them.Nepal has now imported approximately 63,000 electric vehicles. A national charging network of roughly 2,000 points has been built, largely by private importers working alongside the Nepal Electricity Authority.

More than 80 percent of the country’s EV imports originate in China; the balance comes mainly from India. This did not happen gradually. It happened inside a single decade, and it happened faster than the infrastructure could comfortably absorb a gap NADA’s leadership has publicly acknowledged. The Golden Jubilee Edition is the first Nepali exhibition to place the vehicles and that gap on the same floor.

On the vehicle side, the electric and electrified line-up spans price points and formats: BYD, whose battery-electric range has been among the most visible in Nepal’s transition; Leapmotor, which counts Stellantis among its shareholders; Geely, whose group ownership extends across several global marques; and micro-format urban electric vehicles from the MG and Wuling stables.

On two wheels, connected electric motorcycles from Revolt will share space with Yatri, whose electric motorcycles are designed and assembled in Nepal. On the infrastructure side the side that determines whether any of the above is practical charging hardware and network operators including GI Charger, the exhibition’s official charging partner, alongside Exicom, ZEVPOINT and Aircharge, will exhibit AC and DC charging systems.

“Electric vehicles arrived in Nepal faster than the charging infrastructure did. Pretending otherwise helps nobody. What an exhibition can do is put the vehicles, the chargers and the people who finance both in one room and let the conversation happen honestly.” — Surendra Kumar Upreti, President, NADA

The taxation architecture beneath all of this has just changed. Nepal’s EV import regime has moved from a system based on motor power in kilowatts to a value-based Clean Infrastructure Investment Levy. It is among the most significant policy shifts the Nepali EV market has faced, and its consequences will be discussed on this floor by the people it affects.A robot dog draws a crowd. What the crowd finds behind it is a national transition, mid-flight.
